Pressure washing Vs power washing vs soft washing
Most commonly, people refer to the act of cleaning the exterior of their homes with pressurized water as "power washing," however this is a common misconception.
Pressure washing refers to using high pressure water to blast away contaminants on the exterior surfaces of your home. This is only recommended for the more durable surfaces, such as decks, patios, fences, driveways, sidewalks, and pathways.
Technically, power washing uses pressurized water at a very high temperature, while pressure washing uses unheated water.
Soft washing uses a combination of reduced water pressure (as compared to pressure washing) and biodegradable chemicals to remove biological contaminants such as mold, algae, moss, pollen, dirt and other stains from the exterior of your home. This is recommended for residential homes to not damage the siding or roof. These environmentally safe chemicals also keep mold and other biological contaminants at bay.
Why is washing my roof important?
Stains and other biological material that can grow on your roof such as moss, algae and fungus among others, can cause extensive damage if not properly addressed. Allowing these stains to remain can lead to shingle deterioration and wood rot. This type of damage can shorten the life of your roof and lead to more expensive repairs. Maintaining a roof free of these types of stains can help to minimize or even eliminate this type of damage.
Why should i get my gutters cleaned?
When dirt, leaves and other types of debris clog your gutter system, you run the risk of major damage to many parts of your home. If the gutter system is clogged, rainwater is stopped from flowing freely and away from your home. Removing these obstructions will prevent water from seeping into your home that may cause roof rot, cracking of drywall and foundation, and moisture/condensation in windows and window sills, among many other issues. We recommend getting your gutters cleaned at least once or twice a year.
